Three Minute Thesis

Develop and practice your perfect pitch. Gain a new skill for your own professional advantage or for competition/awards.

Learn to build your Perfect Pitch Skills and create your own video. Participation in the ³ÉÈËBÕ¾ 3MT competition is highly encouraged for your professional development. One winner will be selected to compete at the regional level.

To participate, eligible graduate students must complete the by 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, February 2, 2026. The registration form will ask for the the title of your thesis or dissertation as well as a letter, statement or e-mail from the chair of your thesis or dissertation committee indicating their support for your participation. Enrolled graduate students presenting on an original research project including but not limited to a thesis or dissertation are eligible to participate. Graduates from the previous summer are eligible to participate.

Training for Developing a Perfect Pitch

Two informational sessions will be coming up for those interested in participating with one being offered in person and one offered virtually.

3MT Informational Session (In Person)
Monday, January 26 at 1-2pm
104 Parker Hannifin Hall

3MT Informational Session (Virtual)
Thursday, January 29 at 11:30am-12:30pm

Students will present during one of two preliminary rounds on Wednesday, February 18 or Thursday, February 19 from 11am-1pm.

Top students from each preliminary round will advance to present at the 3MT Finals on Thursday, February 26 from 11:30am-1pm

Build your Perfect Pitch Skills while competing for prizes or awards and recognition. PLUS:

1. Improve your ability to communicate your research for your own advantage or for competition.
2. Build the attention and the audience that your work deserves.
3. Monetary and other prizes will be awarded to top presenters.
4. Summarize your research in no more than three minutes to a non-specialist audience.
5. Captivate your audience with a crisp presentation and a captivating performance.
6. Learn and practice the essential presentation elements of preparation and performance.
7. Practice and demonstrate various methods to best sell yourself and your message with voice, presence, tone, movement, etc.
